Description
Theragun Percussive Therapy is a revolutionary treatment that uses rapid, repetitive strokes to stimulate blood flow and heat in the muscle tissue. Unlike traditional vibration (which only works on the surface), Theragun uses a specific amplitude and frequency to reach 60% deeper into the muscle than consumer-grade massagers. This high-speed percussion overrides the pain signals…
Benefits
Instant Pain Relief
The rapid percussion overrides pain signals to the brain, providing immediate relief from stiffness.
Increases Blood Flow
Floods the area with oxygenated blood, which is crucial for repairing damaged tissue.
Maximizes Warm-Up
Prepares muscles for movement by physically stimulating fibers and increasing temperature.
Flushes Lactic Acid
Helps mechanically flush out metabolic waste and toxins that build up during exercise.
The device makes a mechanical humming noise. You will feel a rapid tapping sensation that is surprisingly relaxing. Because the device moves so fast (up to 2,400 percussions per minute), it doesn't "hurt" like a deep thumb pressure might; instead, you feel a deep vibration and warmth spreading through the muscle. We adjust the speed and the attachment head based on the area we are treating (e.g., a softer dampener for bony areas, a cone for trigger points).
Clinical & Safety
Contraindications
Pregnancy
We avoid using percussive devices on the torso or lower back during pregnancy.
Pacemakers
The vibration can interfere with certain medical devices.
Head & Neck
We do not use the device on the head or the front of the throat.
Varicose Veins / DVT
We cannot use high-speed percussion over compromised veins.
Aftercare
Hydrate
Just like a manual massage, the device releases fluids and toxins that need to be flushed out.
Stretch
Your muscles will be warm and pliable immediately after treatment—this is the perfect time to stretch.
Itchiness is Normal
You might feel a temporary "itch" on the skin; this is simply a sign of rapid blood flow returning to the area.
FAQs
Is it better than a normal massage?
It is different. Hands can feel texture and subtle changes in tissue that a machine cannot. However, the Theragun provides speed and consistency that hands cannot match. We often recommend a combination of both for the best results.
Does it hurt?
Generally, no. It can feel intense on very tight spots, but because the head moves on and off the body 40 times per second, the brain focuses on the frequency rather than the pressure.
Can I use it on myself?
You can, but a therapist knows the anatomy and the correct “lines” of the muscle fibers to follow. We can also reach areas (like the mid-back) that you cannot reach effectively yourself.
