Description
IASTM (Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization) using the Ergon Technique is an innovative, evidence-based therapeutic approach that combines static and dynamic manipulation of the body’s soft tissue. Instead of using only hands, we use specialized stainless steel clinical tools designed to effectively detect and treat adhesions, scar tissue, and fascial restrictions. This technique is specifically…
Benefits
Restores Range of Motion
Instantly releases tight fascia, allowing joints and muscles to move freely again.
Breaks Down Scar Tissue
Realigns disorganized collagen fibers caused by old injuries or surgeries.
Accelerates Recovery
Stimulates a local inflammatory response that triggers the body's natural healing process.
Treats Tendonitis
Highly effective for chronic tendon issues like Tennis Elbow, Achilles Tendonitis, and Carpal Tunnel.
This is quite different from a standard massage. We use smooth, medical-grade stainless steel tools to glide over the skin. You will feel a "scraping" or vibrating sensation as the tool passes over rough, restricted tissue. While we target specific problem areas, the treatment is generally well-tolerated. We often combine this with stretching (dynamic mobilization) to retrain the muscle to move correctly.
Clinical & Safety
Contraindications
Blood Thinners
Clients on anticoagulant medication are not suitable for this treatment.
Fragile Skin / Open Wounds
Not suitable for elderly skin that tears easily or unhealed wounds.
Active Infections / Fever
We cannot treat areas with active inflammation or infection.
Unhealed Fractures
We cannot apply pressure over recent bone breaks.
Aftercare
Expect Redness
It is very common to see red marks or "petechiae" (dots) on the skin. This is a normal healing response and will fade in 2-4 days.
Hydrate
Water is essential to help the tissue glide and flush waste products.
Gentle Movement
Keep moving! Do not sit still. Gentle walking or stretching helps integrate the new range of motion.
FAQs
Does the scraping hurt?
It can be intense, especially over areas with a lot of scar tissue (it feels “bumpy” or “gravelly”). However, it should not be excruciating. We adjust the pressure based on your feedback. Most clients describe it as a “satisfying” discomfort.
What are the red marks left on my skin?
These are called “petechiae.” They occur when we release stagnant blood and toxins from the tissue. They look like bruising but are not painful to the touch like a bruise. They usually disappear within a few days.
Why do you use metal tools instead of hands?
The hard edge of the tool allows us to feel and treat restrictions that human fingers simply can’t detect. It provides a level of precision and depth that makes breaking down scar tissue much faster and more effective.
